Multi-effect evaporation refers to a system in which multiple evaporators are connected together. The secondary steam evaporated from the previous evaporator is introduced into the next evaporator as heating steam and condensed into distilled water in the next evaporator.

Steam consumption rate of multi-effect evaporation systems: X t steam per t water evaporated

The more effects, the lower the energy consumption,But it is important to note that:

1、Investment costs rise proportionally with each additional effect added.

2、As the number of effects increases, the energy-saving benefit (in absolute terms) yielded by each additional effect diminishes. Consequently, with more effects, the payback period for adding each subsequent effect lengthens. Therefore, a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis evaluating energy consumption, capital investment, and other factors across different effect configurations is essential to identify the most cost-effective solution.

Characteristics of system

  • Lowest energy consumption and operation cost, electricity consumption of one ton water's evaporation is 2.2kw/℃.
  • Temperature difference is small, heating is gentle, the loss of product is less.
  • Compact structure and lower building cost; plant area is 50% less than that of traditional evaporator.
  • Surrounding is friendly, no gas and no steam.
  • Good adaptability in low loading condition, flexibility of operation is good and has a longer service life.
  • Consumption of circular water is low and energy saving is obvious.
  • No fresh steam is needed.
  • Evaporation can be carried out under 40℃ and equipment need not to be frozen, specially suitable for thermal activity products.
